Directory Database of Research and Development Activities (ReaD) is a database service designed to promote cooperation among industry, academia and government. ReaD is the web site that collects and provides scientific information on research institutes, researchers, research subjects and research resources in Japan.

User Registration

User registration is necessary in order to log on ReaD system.

  1. Please see privacy policy about use of personal information registered in ReaD.
  2. Please inquire the ReaD Office about the following cases.
    1. You do not remember whether you have already registered to ReaD.
    2. You have forgotten user ID or password of ReaD.
  3. Please complete the form below and press the Submit button, and so a confirmation mail is sent to registered e-mail address.
  4. The password written in the above e-mail is tentative. Please change password within 72 hours.

To personnel belonging to institutions conducting data exchanges

Information on institutions conducting data exchanges is provided in batches by research institutions.

Therefore, researchers belonging to institutions conducting data exchanges should contact the ReaD Office without registering using the form above.

If you do not know whether you have to update your data through data exchanges, please contact the ReaD related staff member of your organization. And, if necessary, contact the ReaD Office.

Researchers subject to registration

Researchers subject to registration are researchers (including chancellors and directors) who belong to academic institutions, public institutions, and private-sector institutions, limited-term research staff (including post doctorates and special researchers), and graduate students in doctorate courses (in later period), regardless of whether they are full-time or part-time researchers.
