Department of Advanced Databases, JST manages the Directory Database of Research and Development Activities (ReaD) in accordance with the following principles.
- We collect and offer information about Research Institutes, Researchers, Research Subjects and Research Resources to achieve ReaD’s objective, i.e., to promote Industry-Academia-Government Collaboration, use research information and promote research and development. However, it is possible for a person to choose whether to disclose on the Web items related to the person’s privacy, such as Date of Birth, Contact Information, E-mail Address, Graduate School Attended and Employment Record in Research.
- We specify the purpose, the charge, and the items, etc., on collecting and offering personal information.
- For the purposes listed below, we may use or provide your personal information including the undisclosed items on the Web. In any event, we properly manage the personal information to prevent leakage, redistribution, etc., of such information.
- We properly manage the collected personal information to prevent information leakage/loss or unauthorized access.
- We attach high value to the individual rights of personal information. If you would like to confirm your personal information, we will accept your request only after verifying that you are the person who actually registered it. Sometimes, you may find an error in your personal information or would like to modify it. In this case, we will accept your request for error correction or data modification, and immediately modify or delete your data after verifying your identity.
- ReaD uses the technology called "cookie," so that you are able to update your data through the Internet.
- Cookie is an industry standard technology used by web servers to identify a user's computer.
- We do not use cookies to collect personal-specific information.
- When using certain web browsers, you are able to disable receiving cookies by changing the browser’s settings. If you disable receiving cookies, you may be unable to use all or a part of our website services.
- We use highly secure server software, so that you are able to enter your personal data such as research information safely.
- We follow all applicable laws and regulations concerning the handling of personal information, and make efforts to improve this privacy policy as necessary.
(1) The data may be used for the planning/drafting of science and technology and higher education policies.
(2) At the request of a research organization, or others with the consent of the research organization, the registered data provided by researchers belonging to such organization will be offered.
(3) We offer the data to the National Institute of Informatics (NII) to utilize as basic data for statistical information, and reference material for research on the trend in scientific research in Japan. Moreover, the data is utilized in the Science Content Portal Site, GeNii.
(4) The data may be used or offered within the regulation range of 「独立行政法人等の保有する個人情報の保護に関する法律」
