Frequently Asked Questions

 

 ■ ID & password
Q1: I forgot my ID and password.

Q2: I cannot change my password. Or, after changing my password, the User Identification screen has appeared.

Q3: I tried to log in ReaD using the log-in ID and the password printed on the ID notice, but the error message “User ID or password is incorrect.” appeared.

Q4: I tried to log in ReaD using the log-in ID and the password printed on the ID notice, but the error message “Please enter only one-byte alphabet and numeric in Password.” or “The length of string entered in Password is short.” has appeared.

 ■ Updating information
Q1: I updated my data, but the new data cannot be searched on the search screen.

Q2: I cannot update my data because I have no data available for several required fields.

Q3: When does the error message appear?

Q4: Let me know how to edit the data in each field.

Q5: I have deleted my registration, but my data is not deleted on the disclosed screen.

 ID & password
Q1 :  I forgot my ID and password.
A :  Your personal identification is required for making an inquiry about your ID and password.
When you make an inquiry about your ID and password, please inform us of your organization name and your date of your birth.
If your current organization name is different from the registered organization name, please inform of your past organization name registered in ReaD, too.
After completing your personal identification, we will send your ID and password to your e-mail address registered in ReaD.
If your organization name and your e-mail address are different from the ones registered in ReaD, the ReaD Office will modify your information.
However, if you do not enter all the required items, we will not be able to update your data. If so, the ReaD Office will enter “- (hyphen)” or “Others” in the items, which you have not registered for tentative updating.
Q2 :  I cannot change my password. Or, after changing my password, the User Identification screen has appeared.
A :  After entering your details on the Password Change screen, click Update.
When your password change is completed, the User Identification screen appears without any error indication.
Next, enter your ID and your new password you have changed on the User Identification screen and click the “OK” button. Then, Data Input Screen will appear.
Q3 :  I tried to log in ReaD using the log-in ID and the password printed on the ID notice, but the error message “User ID or password is incorrect.” appeared.
A :  Singe-byte alphanumeric characters should be used for the ID and the password.
You have to carefully use upper/lower case alphabetical letters and numerals.
When you cannot log in even if you carefully enter your ID and password, please contact the ReaD Office.
Q4 :  I tried to log in ReaD using the log-in ID and the password printed on the ID notice, but the error message “Please enter only one-byte alphabet and numeric in Password.” or “The length of string entered in Password is short.” has appeared.
A :  I tried to log in ReaD using the log-in ID and the password printed on the ID notice, but the error message “Please enter only one-byte alphabet and numeric in Password.” or “The length of string entered in Password is short.” has appeared.

 Updating information
Q1 :  I updated my data, but the new data cannot be searched on the search screen.
A :  If you do not enter all the required items, you will not be able to update your data.
Click the Register button, and an error message in red letters will appear in the upper left of Data Input Screen.
Click the error message, and the relevant required item will appear.
Please enter the required information and click the Confirm button, in order to update the data of the relevant field.
Then, click the Register button, and the Confirmation screen will appear.
Last, click the Execute button on the Confirmation screen, and the following message will appear.

Q2 :  I cannot update my data because I have no data available for several required fields.
A :  When you have no data for a required field, please select the “Others” code on the pull-down menu.
When you are requested to input your answer for a required field, please enter “- (hyphen).”
Q3 :  When does the error message appear?
A :  When clicking the Register button, an error message in red letters may appear in the upper left of Data Input Screen.
If so, click the error message, and the relevant required item will appear.
Q4 :  Let me know how to edit the data in each field.
A :  Please click the “Entry Guideline” link on the Data Input Screen.
Q5 :  I have deleted my registration, but my data is not deleted on the disclosed screen.
A :  Your registration in English will be completely deleted on the disclosed screen when the automatic system processing is completed in the following morning (daily processing).
Accordingly, the changes will be displayed on the disclosed screen on the following day or later.
If you find your registration on the disclosed screen even on the following day or later after the deletion, please contact the ReaD Office.
Q6 :  I have entered my data to the research theme item on the bottom of the basic screen, but I cannot find a page for entering my research result. Where should I enter the data on my papers and school of origin?
A :  Click the tab “English (Detailed)” on the top of the Data Input Screen, and the form to enter your research result, etc. will appear.
Q7 :  I want to change the organization name because my past organization name is registered in ReaD at present.
A :  When your organization name registered is different from your current organization name, please modify the data of the item “Organization Name, Department Name.”

As for the organization name of the ReaD researcher information, every researcher is requested to select his organization name from the ReaD registered organization list.
When you want to modify your organization name, please read the following instructions.

---- Procedures to change your organization name --------------------------
  1. Click and select the radio button in the left end of the registered organization column “XX Faculty, XX University” and click the Edit button, and the current data will be displayed in the form of “organization/department names.”

  2. Click the Search of Organization in the right of the organization code, and the Search of Organization screen will appear. Then, enter the organization name you want to search, and click the Execute button.

    * For example, enter one singly-byte space between a university name and a faculty name for the organization search. (Ex. AA University BB faculty)

  3. The registered organization list will appear. Click the radio button in the left end of your current organization name and click the Confirm button on the bottom of the screen, and the code you have selected will be registered in the organization registration form.

  4. When you want to register your major and laboratory names, please enter them in the department name column.

  5. Then, click the Confirm button under the department name column of the form.

    * If you forget to click the Confirm button, your data will not be updated.

  6. If your organization name is registered as an organization among “Move-out・Retiree Institution/Organization Unconfirmed,” please register your current organization name and delete the “Former Institution/Organization: XX University” in the department name column.
Q8 :  I have clicked the Register button, but I can’t find the Execute button.
A :  If the next screen does not appear even after clicking the Register button so that you can’t find the Execute button, you will find an error message in the top left of the screen.
Be sure to check the error message.

Click the error message, and the relevant item will appear.
Enter your data in the relevant field and click the Confirm button of the block of the relevant fields, in order to update your data of the block.
Then, click the Register button, and the Confirmation screen will appear.
After the error message disappears, click the Register button. The next screen will appear, and you can find the Execute button.
Click the Execute button, in order to complete updating of your information.

Please note that, if you click the Back button during or after entering data, the contents you have entered will be deleted without being saved.

 Others
Q1 :  Please let me know how to contact a researcher by e-mail.
A :  When you can find the Contact button in the lower part of the detailed information display screen of the researcher information page, click the Contact button to open up the E-mail form to e-mail the researcher. Using this E-mail form, a user can send an inquiry e-mail to the researcher’s e-mail address for contact via the ReaD system.

Q2 :  I have received an e-mail titled “[ReaD] You've got a contact mail.” What is this?
A :  This is an inquiry mail that a user has sent to you using the mail sending function of the ReaD system.
You are kindly requested to consider how to handle this inquiry e-mail including whether your response to this mail is required or not.

Q3 :  I want to know the e-Rad code. Or, I want to know how to apply for the e-Rad.
A :  ReaD differs from the Information System for the Cross-ministerial R&D Management System: e-Rad.

Q4 :  The letters in the confirmation mail from ReaD are garbled.
A :  ReaD uses UTF-8 encoding for the confirmation mails. (* The ReaD system supports UTF-8.)
Depending on your e-mail software settings, letters in the confirmation mail may be garbled.
Please set your e-mail software encoding to UTF-8, and view the confirmation mail again.
If the letters are still garbled, please send back the e-mail to the ReaD Office.
